Are you annoyed at the way Word opens your documents in Reading Layout? You can turn that feature off by clicking on Tools, Options, then click on the General tab and uncheck the box that says “Allow starting in Reading Layout”.

BNI is the largest business networking organization in the world. I joined a brand new group called the Northwest Networking Group. This is a great opportunity to let more small business owners know about the great service we provide at Yerkotech.
If you want to learn more about BNI, go to www.bni.com or www.bni-mn.com. If you are interested in joining a BNI group let me know! We are always looking for new members to help them grow their business and pass referrals to.

“Be of good cheer. Do not think of today’s failures, but of the success that may come tomorrow. You have set yourselves a difficult task, but you will succeed if you persevere; and you will find a joy in overcoming obstacles.”

Yerkotech Computer Solutions has a new instant remote control support feature on its website.
Yerkotech now has the capability to fix your computer no matter where you are located. You click on the remote support link, the software installs itself and connects to a Yerkotech technician, then you sit back and watch while the technician fixes your computer. When the technician is done, the software automatically removes itself from your computer.
This software is also useful for remote training sessions. If you have a question about how to do something on your computer and would like to be shown exactly where to click, feel free to give us a call.
Click on the contact page for more details.

I have various motivational quotes posted on the walls in my home office. I’ve decided to post them periodically as a motivation to others as well.
“Belief in yourself, belief in your abilities, will override fear almost every time. The only thing we are afraid of is what we are capable of accomplishing.”
-Rich DiGirolamo

While doing some research on this today I found an open source utility called TrueCrypt. This utility allows you to create a virtual encrypted disk within a file or encrypt an entire hard disk partition or usb flash drive. Encryption occurs on the fly and without user intervention once the flash drive is mounted. This is unlike the Sandisk utility which requires the user to encrypt and decrypt the files on the flash drive. Check it out if you need on the fly encryption.

This year daylight savings time will start three weeks earlier and end one week later than in the past. This changes when Windows needs to adjust the clock on your computer. Microsoft has released a patch for each of the following products to fix this issue:
Windows Client
Windows Server
Windows Mobile
Windows Sharepoint Services
Exchange Server
Outlook
Dynamics CRM
Entourage
If you are a regular client of Yerkotech Computer Solutions we will take care of these patches for you. Otherwise we recommend getting these patches installed as soon as possible to avoid any scheduling issues starting in March.
